It’s actually crazy to think that it’s only been a year since we became this close. Because when I look at everything now, it genuinely feels like you’ve been a part of my life for so much longer. And I think we both know how that year started for me. I was at one of the lowest points of my life. I didn’t know how to handle myself and most of the time I didn’t even have the energy to explain what I was feeling.
And then somehow, you came into my life. maybe it was the right timing, or maybe God really did send you to me when I needed someone the most. And then there was that one night when you called and I was crying on the phone. omething about that night stayed with me. From there, things just slowly started changing.
I found someone who was willing to put effort into me when I had absolutely no energy left to put into myself.
Someone who would listen.
Someone who would stay.
Someone who would wipe my tears when I was crying and somehow make things feel a little less heavy.
Someone who didn't expect me to have everything figured out.
Someone who just let me be.
And I don't think I'll ever be able to properly explain how much that meant to me. You took care of me during a time when I didn't even know how to take care of myself. You showed up for me in ways that I'll always remember. And somewhere along the way, you became my best friend without either of us really planning for it. All the random meetings and hangouts. All the board games. All the stupid conversations. All the laughing over absolutely nothing. All the plans that somehow became memories. All the times we annoyed each other. All the fights. 😂 All the times we were mad at each other and then somehow ended up talking again.
From Navratri to Diwali, from random everyday moments to all the little things in between, this past year has genuinely been such a roller coaster. Because even the messy parts are a part of our story.
You've seen me at my absolute worst and you've also been there while I slowly found pieces of myself again. And I think that's something I'll always carry with me.
You probably don't realise how much all the little things you've done have meant to me. Sometimes it's not even about the big gestures. It's the small things. The checking in, the calls, the effort, the way you show up, the way you somehow know when something is wrong, the way you can make me laugh when I'm not even in the mood to smile. So today, on your birthday, I just want you to know how grateful I am for you.
I'm grateful that life brought you into mine.
I'm grateful for every memory we've made.
I'm grateful for every stupid fight and every stupid laugh.
I'm grateful for every conversation, every hangout and every random
moment. I hope this year is incredibly kind to you. I hope you get
everything you've been working towards. I hope you grow, achieve
everything you want, make amazing memories.
And I think one of the things I'll always be the most grateful for is that you never gave up on me. Even when I was difficult to understand, even when I was distant, emotional, confused or just not myself, you never made me feel like I was too much to handle. Even when I didn't know how to communicate what was going on inside my head, you had the patience to understand me. You never expected me to be okay overnight, you just stayed beside me while I slowly figured things out. And honestly, that means more to me than I can ever put into words. Because when I had almost given up on myself, you never gave up on me. And I don't think I'll ever forget that. ❤️
